Orange County Animal Services invites citizens to attend the Division’s second annual rescue appreciation event, Barktoberfest, on Saturday, September 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m at Lake Eola. The event will feature dogs from more than 20 of the Division’s rescue partners in the hopes of matching at least 50 homeless pets with loving, forever homes. To help reach this goal, the Division has joined with several community partners.
“Animal Services receives around 23,000 pets every year and our rescue partners help to save many of those lives,” said Dil Luther, Division Manager of Orange County Animal Services. “Hosting Barktoberfest is our way of saying thank you to our rescue partners and letting them know that we truly appreciate all they do.”
The following rescue partners will be participating in Barktoberfest:
· Central Florida American Pit Bull Terrier & Mixed Breed Rescue, Inc.
· Golden Retriever Rescue of Mid-Florida
· Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida
· Ruff Rescue of Central Florida Inc.
· Siberian Husky Rescue of Florida, Inc.
· Sniffing Snouts Pitbull Rescue
“Whether you’re looking for a Golden Retriever, Beagle, Husky, puppy or mixed breed dog, Barktoberfest will have it,” said Luther. “Along with a variety of adoptable pets, the event will also feature a variety of amazing pet businesses, a fun Kidz Zone, raffles and delicious cuisine from some of Orlando’s best food trucks.”
Pookie’s Pet Nutrition, Happy Paws Pet Resort and the Sit N Stay Pet Café are just a few of the recognizable businesses participating in Barktoberfest. For a full list, check outwww.ocfl.net/barktoberfest. The Kidz Zone will feature science demonstrations from Mad Science, a bounce house, balloon artist, face painter and caricature artist. Guests can also enter raffles to win various gifts for their pets.
