Florida Gov. Rick Scott on Wednesday signed a death warrant for John Errol Ferguson, who has spent decades on death row for the murder of eight people during a pair of killing sprees in Carol City in 1977 and Hialeah in 1978.
It’s the first death warrant signed for Ferguson, now 64.
It’s the fifth death warrant signed by Scott since taking office. Scott sent a letter to Department of Correction officials setting an execution date of Oct. 16 at 6 p.m.
