Priest, Teacher Accused of Internet Sex Crime with Minor

A teacher, priest and father of two young children is accused of traveling to meet whom he believed was a minor for sex, detectives said.

46-year-old Gerald Shriner, a school teacher at The Geneva School on State Road 436 in Winter Park, was taken into custody around 9:30 a.m., near Kirkman Road.

According to detectives, Shriner began a conversation on the Internet on May 17, with an undercover detective who was posing as a minor. After several e-mails between the two, it was agreed that the pair would meet for sexual intersourse.

Detectives also say, the Internet conversations continued until yesterday morning and that’s when Shriner left the Winter Springs area to meet with who he believed was a minor for sex.

Shriner, the father of two young children, was booked into the Orange County Jail, but has since bonded out.  Shriner told investigators he is an Episcopalian priest at New Covenant Anglican Church in Winter Springs.
