George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer who fatally shot Trayvon Martin, has a new bond hearing set for June 29.
Zimmerman, 28, returned to jail on Sunday after Judge Kenneth Lester revoked his bond last Friday. Judge Lester determined that Zimmerman and his wife Shellie Zimmerman misled the court about their financial situation.
In April, at Zimmerman’s earlier bond hearing the court was led to believe that the couple had little financial means. In fact, a website established by Zimmerman to help with his legal defense had raised about $135,000 at the time of the hearing. So, Judge Lester revoked Zimmerman’s bond and ordered him back to jail.
Now a second bond hearing will take place on June 29.
Zimmerman’s attorney, Mark O’Mara said earlier his client acknowledges he misled the court and will work to restore his credibility.
Zimmerman is charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Sanford. He has pleaded not guilty and said, he shot the teen in self defense.
