Another Teen Dies in Seminole County 3-Car Crash

A second teen has died in a separate three-car crash in Seminole County on Monday morning.

14-year-old Kyra Quinn, of Oviedo, died today at the Orlando Regional Medical Center, Florida Highway Patrol said.

Kyra was ejected from the back of a 2005 Chevy heading north on State Road 415 near Celery Avenue, after the vehicle drifted into the southbound lanes.

The driver of the Chevy, 18-year-old Chad Hendrix swiped the rear of a 2005 Toyota driven by 41-year-old James Halleran, of Port Orange.

Hendrix continued in the southbound lanes and struck a third vehicle, a 2006 Ford pick-up driven by Jerimiah Frank, 35, of Osteen.

Troopers said, Kyra was lying unrestrained on the back seat of the Chevy and was ejected when the crash occurred.

Hendrix suffered serious injuries and was transported to Central Florida Regional Hospital.

Halleran and Frank sustained minor injuries.   A 14-year-old passenger, Aubrey Frank, traveling in the pick-up was not injured in the crash.

Troopers said, the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.

Last Friday, 15-year-old Xiomara Munoz, of Winter Springs, died at the Arnold Palmer Hospital, following a crash one week earlier, in Seminole County.

  2. Thank you Benedict. I have the same questions. If anyone knows anything, please post. The family is grieving and would appreciate any truthful information that can be offered. Thank you.

  3. Last I checked the driver of the vehicle is alive and well. It has been stated that “the driver drifted into the southbound lane, for some unknown reason” can’t the driver tell us the reason?? I mean really???

  5. I think the other teen the article is referring to is from another accident the same week. But you are right. We have so many questions about what happened. Questions that can obviously be answered by Chad Hendrix. Why not tell us? When and where did he pick her up. Where had they been? Where were they going? I’ve heard so many different versions of the story. But Chad knows the truth.

  6. I think we can all figure out why someone would “drift”. I hope they drug tested him. I don’t understand why he hasn’t been arrested for DUI and vehicular homicide, or at least manslaughter.

  7. I heard Chad was on a drug called “bars” aka Xanax. But the police work in florida sucks. Chad should be in jail. He is 18 years old with a 14 year old girl at 7 am. Taking her away from school, and if he was on drugs, then the blood work should be in by now. Police should be doing more to prove Chad NOT INNOCENT !!!!!

  8. Aunt Reenie,
I’m assuming you are a family member? I’m so sorry for your family’s loss. I cannot imagine the grief. I did find it odd when I read the story that a 14 year old girl was in the car with an 18 year old boy at 7am and was laying in the back of the car. Was she asleep? It is just so odd (as a complete stranger) to read this. I hope the family gets the necessary “answers” they need for healing. I know for me the unknown would be far worse than the known truth. They have a long road ahead of them and I hope whatever comfort can be given to them will be.
