A K-9 with the Orlando Police Department helped apprehend a school burglary suspect last Friday.
Juan Gabriel Rivera-Rivera, 24, faces charges of burglary, resisting arrest without violence and violation of probation.
According to police, Rivera-Rivera was seen exiting the McCoy Elementary School at 5225 south Semoran Boulevard in Orlando. He jumped a concrete wall and hid in a grassy area nearby, police said.
A perimeter was set up, keeping Rivera-Rivera in the area. That’s when K-9s Brown and Rex entered and located the suspect, who resisted, police say.
K-9, Rex, reportedly caught Rivera-Rivera by delivering a bite.
Rivera-Rivera was treated at Florida Hospital East for the dog bite and discharged, police said. He was booked into the Orange County Jail on a $3,500 bond.
