A passenger on a motorcycle died Sunday, after the driver lost control and struck a tree on Cherry Lake Road in Lake County.
Troopers said, Ramlakhan Singh, 58, of Groveland, was heading southbound on Cherry Lake Road, near Cherry Lake Groves Road, when he lost control of the three-wheel motorcycle and traveled into a ditch.
Basmattie Persad, 43, of Canada, a passenger, was thrown from the motorcycle when it struck a tree. She was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center, but sucummbed to her injuries.
Persad was Singh’s niece. She was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Singh sustained minor injuries and was wearing a helmet.
The crash occurred around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Troopers said, the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
