With less than two weeks until the October 15 opening of LEGOLAND Florida, the new 150-acre theme park in Winter Haven, youngsters are clamoring to get on the many rides and roller coasters.

Inspired by America’s love affair with all things LEGO, the new theme park especially cater to kids ages 2 to 12 with more than 50 “pink-knuckle” rides – from roller coasters to race cars – as well as family focused shows and attractions.

“Our highly immersive rides and experiences are great fun for younger children, allow mom and dad to play along, and are perfect for creating cherished memories for every member of the family,” said Adrian Jones, LEGOLAND Florida general manager. “It is, in essence, the dream theme park you would build if you had 50 million bricks,” Jones added, referencing the number of LEGO bricks being used to develop the park just 45 minutes east of Tampa, and 45 minutes southwest of Orlando.

LEGOLAND Florida will be the fifth and largest in the LEGOLAND franchise, and is perfectly positioned on the shores of Lake Eloise.

“Ticket sales at LEGOLAND® Florida have been going very well, a fact supported by the overwhelming response to an initial ‘soft opening’ this past weekend,” said Mark Jackson, Director of Tourism & Sports Marketing for the Central Florida Visitors and Convention Bureau.   “After touring the park on Friday afternoon, I was amazed at the beautiful transformation of the former Cypress Gardens and at the extremely high quality of LEGO models, rides and shows.”

Added Jackson, “Winter Haven and Polk County are certainly abuzz with expectations and optimism about the entertainment options and the quality of the park. It was interesting to me; particularly since I’ve had the opportunity to visit LEGOLAND’s other parks throughout the world, that LEGOLAND Florida is the best one yet.”

The family fun spreads across 10 zones and ranges from medieval thrills featuring knights, princesses and dragons to a high-energy, swashbuckling adventure starring jet-skiing pirates. The attractions include:

  • Dragon Coaster which offers a hilarious, behind-the-scenes view of life within the enchanted LEGOLAND Castle. Guests soar on the indoor/outdoor steel coaster and encounter a massive fire-breathing dragon along the way.
  •  Land of Adventure where families will find Coastersaurus, a thrilling wooden coaster that curves and dips in and around a life-sized LEGO brick dinosaur.
  • LEGO TECHNIC is the most “intense” part of the park and where the “pinkest” coaster resides. Here courageous youngsters and daring adults will brave the LEGO® TECHNIC™ Test Track Coaster and harness the power of acceleration, braking and maneuverability as they race a life-size LEGO TECHNIC vehicle along a wildly twisting track.
  • Flight School is located in LEGO City and uses a suspended track to let kids experience the thrill of flight.

DUPLO® Village caters exclusively to the 3- to 5-year-old set with two distinctly themed play zones – DUPLO Playtown where toddlers operate a pint-sized town; and DUPLO Barn, where they can climb, slide and crawl among a whole host of adorable LEGO farm animals.

The theme park fun crescendos in Pirate’s Cove along the shores of Lake Eloise.
