FHP: School Boy on Bicycle Hit in Crosswalk

A 7-year-old boy on his way to school, was struck by a van as he rode on his bicycle in a crosswalk on Thursday morning, Florida Highway Patrol say.

The accident occurred around 8:00 a.m., on Waterford Lakes Parkway near Alafaya Trail.

Troopers say, the boy was hit by Rebecca Magsino, 34, who was driving a Honda van, as he began traveling in the crosswalk on his bicycle. Magsino was attempting to make a right turn on westbound Waterford Lake Parkway, after stopping for the red light.

The front of Magsino’s Honda struck the boy’s bicycle in the crosswalk.

The child was taken to Florida Hospital East with minor injuries.

Magsino, who suffered no injuries, was issued a ticket for careless driving.
