Ex-Windermere Chief Cops Plea, Faces 20 Years

Former Windermere Police Chief Daniel Saylor on Friday accepted a plea deal in his bribery and corruption case.

Saylor, 44, of Sanford, was arrested in January, and again in March, on charges of bribery, misconduct and solicitation to tamper with evidence. He was also accused of hindering an investigation into rape allegations against a friend.

According to State Attorney’s Office, Saylor pled to:

– Two counts of Official Misconduct
– One count of Solicitation to Commit Official Misconduct
– One count of Solicitation to Tamper with Evidence.

All the counts are third degree felonies and Saylor’s sentence will be determined by a judge.

In return for the plea, the State dropped one count of Bribery and one count of Unlawful Compensation for Official Behaviour.

Under Florida sentencing statute Saylor could face up to 20 years in jail.
