Senator Gary Siplin (D-Orlando) will partner with the Central Florida Urban League to host his first “Homeowners’ Summit” on Friday, September 30th, 2011 from 3pm to 6pm. The event, which was originally scheduled for earlier this month, is designed to provide a one-stop shop for constituents to get an update on recent legislative insurance reforms, information on foreclosure prevention, mortgage assistance, home weatherization and rehabilitation, as well as hurricane preparedness and property/casualty insurance coverage.
A free First-Time Homebuyer’s Education Seminar will also be provided by the Central Florida Urban League’s Comprehensive Housing Counseling Program from 8:30am to 3pm (pre-registration is required). Certificates from this course can be used to obtain eligibility for local government down-payment assistance programs.
Participants include representatives from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD), Florida Department of Financial Services’ Consumer Services Division, Orange County Office of Emergency Management, Orange County & City of Orlando Housing and Redevelopment Divisions, Homes in Partnership, Inc., HANDS of Central Florida, Inc., Affordable Housing Centers of America, Community Legal Services of Mid-Florida, local insurance agencies, and many more.
