Governor Rick Scott has taken to the phones, calling up Floridians to tout his so-called day-to-day accomplishments. From a friendly voice on the other end of the line, Scott’s can be heard reaching out to residents across the state saying, “Hi, this is Gov. Rick Scott. I wanted to personally call and share some very encouraging news about our efforts to get Florida back to work….. Unemployment is down for five straight months, bucking the national trend.”
According to the Miami Herald, while political robocalls are nothing new, during an election season, it is the first time that the state GOP is paying for regular recorded calls touting day-to-day accomplishments.
On Friday, Scott’s recorded voice was touting his cuts to property taxes, perhaps a reference to his cutting back water management districts. Prior to this, Scott’s calls dealt with fighting drugs and vetoing “wasteful special interest projects” by follow Republican legislators.
