Orange County Announces Grants for Home Repairs

The Orange County Neighborhood Preservation and Revitalization Division announced on Thursday, the availability of $150,000 for applications for housing repair projects and programs in the unincorporated area of Orange County. This funding is available to nonprofits and faith based organizations, to assist in providing minor housing repairs to owner occupied homes in the unincorporated areas of Orange County.

Rising foreclosures and the current economic conditions are leading, in some instances, to the physical decline of properties. The Nonprofit Housing Repair Grant I is designed to encourage grassroots organizations to assist homeowners that are in need of minor exterior repairs.

The nonprofit is to provide volunteer labor to perform the repairs and Neighborhood Preservation and Revitalization Division will purchase all the required materials for an amount not to exceed $1,000.  Nonprofits organizations will not receive cash funding and no request will be awarded for more than $20,000.

It is estimated that these grants will benefit one to three homes per organization.

Applications are available at 450 E. South Street, Orlando, FL  32801 and the Neighborhood Preservation and Revitalization Services Website at www.ocfl.net/neighborhoods  The deadline for applications is, Friday, April 15, 2011 by 5:00 p.m.

According to the Orange County Neighborhood Preservation and Revitalization Division, funding is also available under the Nonprofit Housing Repair Grant II.

  1. IS this still a valid benefit. I move to my dad property in Bithlo, Fl and his property needs a lot of repairs and possibly a new well water. I have a 4 month old baby girl diagnose with cystic fibrosis and a 2 years old with speech impediment. I’m the only one working while their dad watches them during the day. How can I get assistants to fix this property.
