A 24-year-old Apopka man died on Thursday in a crash on I-4 near Lake Mary Boulevard, troopers said.
FHP said, the driver of a box truck, John Theodore White, was heading eastbound on the I-4 in center, when it swerved to avoid another vehicle entering eastbound from the Lake Mary entrance ramp. Witnesses told troopers that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it entered I-4 eastbound.
Troopers believe that, as the vehicle entered I-4, the driver changed lanes, possibly in front of White, who steered to the left and struck the guardrail. The box truck overturned and White was partially ejected; he died on the spot.
Troopers do not have a description of the vehicle that entered I-4 from Lake Mary Boulevard.
FHP say the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
