A Holly Hill woman was arrested on Friday for attempting to sell her 8-week-old grandson.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) arrested Patty Bigbee, 45, of Holly Hill in Volusia County, Florida, after she met with a buyer today in Daytona Beach, to sell her grandson.
FDLE said that the investigation began in late October after Bigbee approached a third party and offered to sell the infant for $75,000. After a series of negotiations, a price for the purchase of the infant was agreed up at $30,000.
Bigbee and the purchaser met on Friday around 4:00 pm at Daytona Beach to complete the transaction and to hand over the infant.
At the transaction, FDLE agents arrested Bigbee and turned over the infant to the Department of Children and Families.
Bigbee’s boyfriend, Lawrence Works, 42, was also arrested for his role in the sale of the infant.
The infant’s mother is incarcerated on unrelated charges.
Bigbee and Works were booked into the Volusia County Jail and charged with illegal sale or surrender of a child and communication fraud.
FDLE said the investigation is ongoing.
