Deputies Still Searching for Armed Bank Robbers

Orange County Sheriff’s detectives continue their search on Thursday for two armed bandits who robbed a Wachovia Bank on Orangewood Boulevard and Hway 528 on Wednesday afternoon, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The two suspects entered the bank through the front entrance.  One robber held a white paper gift bag with silver or gold lettering in one hand and in the other a silver and grey semi-automatic handgun. The second bandit, who covered his face with a dark bandana, also held a black and silver colored handgun.

According to OCSO incident report, both robbers demanded in a loud voice that everyone get down on the floor.  One of the bank’s employee’s who is 7 months pregnant, was also forced to the floor.  There are news reports that the visibly pregnant employee was used as a human shield.  The suspects then approached two center bank exchange windows and made demands for money.   The robber carrying the gift bag layed it on the counter, pointed his handgun toward the teller and demanded cash.  The teller complied.

The men fled the bank and demanded that no one call police, OCSO incident reports states.  The amount of the loot stolen by the robbers has not been disclosed.

Investigators do not have a good description of the vehicle in which the robbers fled and it is not clear whether a third suspect drove the getaway car.

Orange County Fire Rescue was requested to report to the scene for the stress suffered by the pregnant employee, but she was not transported to hospital.  None of the bank’s employees was hurt.
