During Green Week, the entire NBA family will team up to generate awareness and funding to protect the environment as players will wear special on-court apparel, the league and its teams will hold auctions to benefit environmental preservation organizations, and teams and players will participate in hands-on community service projects. In addition, the NBA.com microsite, www.nba.com/green, will feature everything from greening tips for fans to interviews with NBA players on why environmental awareness is important to them.
“Green Week showcases the NBA’s ability to inspire positive action and is another example of why the league has an outstanding reputation as one of the world’s most responsible sports organizations,” said NRDC Senior Scientist Allen Hershkowitz. “A healthy environment benefits everyone, and the NBA’s continued incorporation of that understanding into its operations proves it takes its commitment to environmental protection seriously.”
This season, the NBA is continuing to take steps to become a more environmentally responsible organization and will continue to explore ways of improving in this area. To learn more about what the NBA and its teams are doing to “go green,” please visit www.nba.com/green.
