A man who tried to burglarize a building on North Orange Blossom Trail early this morning, became stuck in the ventilation duck on the roof, has since been arrested, Orlando Police Department detectives said.
A passer-by who flagged down an off duty officer said he observed a man on the roof, removing wiring from the side and top of the building.
Additional officers were called to the scene and later, James E. Washington, 49 years, was observed on top of the business hanging over the south west corner of the building.
The building was surrounded and cordoned off. Washington was seen attempting to gain access to the building by prying open a skylight. When that did not work, he attempted to gain access through an air ventilation duct and got stuck in it.
Contact was made with Washington on the roof top and he was ordered into a prone position, but he would not show the officers his hands. Washington was tazed and detectives were able to safely detain him. He was removed from the building, treated and subsequently arrested.
Washington was transported to C.I.D and then to the Orange County B.R.C., without further incident.
