Arrest Made in Fatal New Year’s Day Shooting in Tampa

An arrest was recently made in the fatal New Year’s Day shooting in Tampa.




The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, arrested 39-year-old Curtis Christopher Williams following the fatal shooting in Tampa on New Year’s Day.

On January 1st at 1:43am, the HCSO Communications Center received a call regarding a possible shooting outside the Tally Ho Bar Lounge & Grill at 7402 North 56th Street in Tampa.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they located 45-year-old Joseph Reese with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

HCSO detectives, with the assistance of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, arrested 39-year-old Curtis Christopher Williams, in Pinellas Park.




Williams was booked in the Pinellas County Jail without incident and is facing charges of Murder in the First Degree Premeditated Firearm – Great Bodily Harm/Death, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm for the Central Florida fatal shooting.

“Our detectives worked seamlessly with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office to bring this suspect into custody following a tragic shooting on New Year’s Day,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This arrest highlights the dedication of our deputies and detectives, as well as the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies. We remain steadfast in our commitment to seeking justice for those affected by senseless acts of violence and ensuring the safety and security of our communities.”
