State Representative Wants Florida Protected from Venezuelan Gang Tren de Aragua

A state representative wants to make sure Florida is protected from the violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.

State Representative Berny Jacques sent a letter to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner to ask about the steps Florida is taking to protect from the violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.

“These thugs are allowed to enter our country by the Biden-Harris regime and as a result we’ve seen them terrorize American communities in other states,” Republican State Rep. Jacques said. “I will fight hard to make sure they don’t do the same in Florida.”

In addition to attacking Democrats like President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, the Florida Republican said the state must proactively address the immigration threat.

“As threats from transnational gangs like Tren de Aragua continue to grow, I am increasingly concerned about the implications of the Biden-Harris administration’s open-border policies,” State Rep. Berny Jacques wrote in the letter to FDLE. “From the start, this administration has dismantled border security and interior enforcement, signaling to criminal cartels and gangs that they can exploit our nation with impunity. We are now seeing the devastating results as violent groups destabilize communities in border and non border states alike, and it is essential that Florida proactively address this threat.”

He asked the FDLE Commissioner how Florida is preparing to counter “the potential infiltration of Tren de Aragua” and how state elected officials can support efforts.

In response, Commissioner Mark Glass outlined the steps FDLE is taking to counter this immigration threat, including increased intelligence sharing, law enforcement coordination, and proactive measures to protect Floridians. Here is the letter from FDLE:

“This response is encouraging and I look forward to working with him to keep Florida safe,” the Republican State Representative said.

State Rep. Jacques represents Central Florida District 59 in Pinellas County and ran for office as a “proven conservative.”
