Murder-Suicide in Tampa Ended at Water Street Near Riverwalk

A recent murder-suicide in Tampa ended at popular Water Street near the Riverwalk.




In November, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Cedaridge Drive in Central Florida following reports of a missing woman based on concerns for her safety.

murder suicide Tampa Water StreetThrough investigative means, local detectives learned that the suspect, 31-year-old Franklin Vegas Delgado, called a relative and stated he had killed his wife.

Detectives located the victim, 28-year-old Waleska Gomez Barroeta, deceased in a vehicle parked at 815 Water Street in downtown Tampa.

Further investigation revealed that Vegas Delgado had left the parking lot on foot after abandoning the car where the victim was found.

At 1:20am, detectives found Vegas Delgado with self-inflicted injuries at the Tampa Marriott Water Street Hotel located at 505 Water Street in downtown Tampa near the Riverwalk.




The shocking local murder-suicide ended in the newly redeveloped and popular part of downtown. “Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones impacted by this heartbreaking tragedy,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This is an unimaginable loss and a painful reminder that violence is never the answer.”

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the murder-suicide in Tampa that ended at Water Street.
