Central Florida Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Teens, Recovery of Firearms

A Central Florida traffic stop led to the arrest of two teens and the recovery of multiple firearms.

At the intersection of Bryan Road and Williams Road, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office’s Street Crimes Unit attempted a traffic stop, at which point two rear passengers immediately fled on foot.

The driver, an 18-year-old, and front passenger, a 16-year-old, were detained without incident.

Following a brief foot pursuit, deputies arrested 17-year-old Sidney Nathaniel Dorsey. During the arrest, Dorsey was found carrying a loaded Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun with an extended magazine holding 22 rounds.

The second fleeing passenger, 16-year-old Arturo Garcia, was located with the assistance of HCSO’s Aviation, K-9, and Patrol Units and taken into custody.

Following these arrests, deputies conducted a search of the vehicle, uncovering a 5.56 rifle with a loaded extended magazine and no serial number.

Additionally, a Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun was found on the floor of the vehicle, along with a loaded silver 9mm magazine located just outside the rear passenger door.

According to local law enforcement, two individuals were arrested: 17-year-old Dorsey, who is facing charges of Resisting an Officer with Violence, Carrying a Concealed Firearm, and Minor in Possession of a Firearm; and 16-year-old Garcia, who is facing charges of Resisting an Officer Without Violence x2, Trespassing on Property Other than a Structure or Conveyance, Minor in Possession of a Firearm (Second Offense) x2, Possession of a Firearm with a Removed Serial Number.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said more charges may be forthcoming.

“This case highlights the dangers our deputies face daily as they work to keep illegal firearms off our streets and keep our community safe,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Thanks to our deputies’ swift action and teamwork, these dangerous individuals were arrested, and weapons that could have caused harm were removed.”

This is an active and ongoing investigation, according to local law enforcement.
