An Orlando man was indicted for arson resulting in injury at Inter&Co Stadium in downtown.
United States Attorney Roger Handberg recently announced the unsealing of an indictment charging 37-year-old Giovanni Isai Ramirez Reyes, of Orlando, with arson of a building that led to personal injuries.
According to court documents and information provided during a hearing, Ramirez Reyes lit two flares and threw them into the crowd during a soccer match on February 24, 2024, at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
The flares produced a larger fire that damaged the stadium and caused burns to a child attending the match.
If convicted, Ramirez Reyes faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 7 years, up to 40 years, in federal prison.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Orlando Police Department, and the Orlando Fire Department. The Central Florida case will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Adam J. Nate.
