Two Central Florida students were arrested for a school shooting threat on Snapchat that they later claimed was a joke.
The Volusia County students were arrested on felony charges after posting the school shooting threat.
According to local law enforcement, the School Resource Deputy at Taylor Middle-High School in Pierson responded after the post was reported.
17-year-old Trinity Mack sent a photo on Snapchat that said “Imma shoot up the school” with her school laptop in the background.
16-year-old Brayden Severance replied “Same.”
This occurred immediately after Taylor Middle-High School broadcast an announcement to the entire student body with the warning that all threats are taken seriously and “jokes” are not only unacceptable, they can lead to expulsion and arrest.
Both students were taken into custody on a felony charge of making a written threat of a mass shooting, transported to the Volusia Family Resource Center for processing, and then transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice to be held in secure detention.
