Central Florida Visitor Dies in Drowning Incident at DeLeon Springs State Park

Sadly, a 21-year-old man swimming at DeLeon Springs State Park lost his life recently in an apparent drowning incident.

Central Florida deputies responded to the report of a drowning shortly after 3pm last week. First responders attempted life-saving measures on the victim at the scene before transporting him to a hospital for further treatment.

Despite additional efforts there, the victim couldn’t be revived.

Volusia County detectives spoke with witnesses who explained the victim and his family were visiting Florida from Texas and decided to go to DeLeon Springs State Park.

The victim reportedly did not know how to swim but left the shallow area. He disappeared in the water for several minutes before he was discovered missing and pulled out of the deep area.

There were no immediate signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances, according to local law enforcement. The Volusia Sheriff’s Office extended condolences to the family and friends of the young man who lost his life.
