The fan cheer came on a day after police say they charged Brown, 19, with criminal threats and said they were investigating the alleged domestic violence felony battery and may file other charges against the R&B singer. Brown is out on $50,000 bail after turning himself in to authorities at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Division.
The alleged assault occurred following an argument in a vehicle in the Hancock Park neighborhood at around 12:30 a.m. PT Sunday in Los Angeles. Police received a 911 call reporting the disturbance and according to a statement, when officers arrived they found the victim, but Brown had already left the scene. The case is being presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.
The Los Angeles Times reported that Robyn Rihanna Fenty was the alleged victim of the assault. While Radar Online reported that a source inside Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where Rihanna was reportedly taken following the alleged incident, said the singer became emotional when two female `assistants` went to visit her at the facility. She reportedly suffered bruises and bite marks. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that Rihanna was `reportedly hospitalized with bruises on her face,` even as a spokesman said only that the singer was `well.`
Meanwhile, Wrigley announced Monday that it is suspending ad campaigns featuring Brown as its Doublemint gum spokesman. A company statement expressed concern about what it called `serious allegations made against Chris Brown.` From the ages seven to thirteen, Brown was scarred by the domestic violence his mother endured from her boyfriend.
Rihanna`s birthday bash to celebrate her 21st year of birth has also reportedly been canned. E Online is reporting that the Feb. 20th party has been cancelled. Rihanna was born to a Guyanese mother and a Barbadian father in Barbados before being discovered by Def Jam music executives.
