Armed, Intoxicated Man Keeps Neighbors on Edge, Arrested

An Orange County man, who was intoxicated and armed, terrorized a neighborhood earlier today, before being taken into custody by  Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) deputies.

According to OCSO:

On February 28th at approximately 6:07 PM, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Communication  Center received multiple 9-1-1 calls from residents at the Tanner Crossing Subdivision.  They advised that a known neighbor was walking down the street possibly armed with two high powered riffles.  The callers also advised the subject was pacing back and forth knocking on neighbor’s doors. Deputies responded to the subdivision and observed the subject outside his front porch; he no longer appeared armed.  Deputies gave the subject instructions to step outside; however, he ignored the deputy’s commands and entered his residence.   A perimeter was set around the residence and a call was made inside the home.  The subject answered the phone and advised he would only speak with Deputy Shawn Wright.

Deputy Wright is very familiar with the subject since he has dealt with him in the past.  Deputy Wright made contact with the subject, via phone, and through dialog was able to convince the subject to exit the residence, unarmed and surrender himself.   It was determined that the subject was intoxicated and was having a hard time dealing with the recent death of his significant other.  He was baker acted and charges have been filed for reckless display of a firearm.   Deputies recovered 11 riffles and one shot gun from the residence.  The firearms were taken into custody for safe keeping.

OCSO deputies have not released the identity of the man.
