Senator Rick Scott Says Floridians Can’t Afford Inflation, Bidenomics

Following the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) release from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), Florida Senator Rick Scott says people can’t afford inflation or Bidenomics.

The Republican Senator highlighted the need to implement substantive fiscal reforms to end what he called the ongoing inflation crisis fueled by a “reckless tax-and-spend agenda” from Democratic President Joe Biden’s administration.

The Florida Senator pointed out that April’s CPI data shows that there has been a significant rise in inflation during Biden’s presidency, with CPI increasing 3.4% over the year in April 2024.

According to the recent CPI release, price increases over the year include:

  • Beef: +7.0%
  • Sugar: +6.6%
  • Rent: +5.6%
  • Electricity: +5.1%
  • Tomatoes: +4.7%

“Inflation has been up for 37 straight months, and Floridians are sick and tired of the failed Bidenomics agenda that is stealing their paychecks—costing them $24,000 more since Biden took office,” Senator Rick Scott said. “Floridians tell me every day about the heartbreaking struggles they are facing just to make ends meet right now.”

Senator Scott said since President Biden took office, inflation is up 19.9% marking the 37th consecutive month inflation is above 3%.

“It makes me think about what my mom went through when I was growing up and we lived in public housing,” Senator Scott continued. “She had to work odd jobs to make ends meet and there were plenty of days when we didn’t have much food on our table. Today, too many Floridians are facing the same hardships my mom did, but it doesn’t have to stay that way. I won’t stop fighting to cut spending and bring fiscal sanity back to Washington by ending the disastrous Bidenonmics agenda that is pushing Floridians and our nation to the brink of financial ruin with record inflation.”
