Florida Senate Honors Central Florida Democratic Senator’s Service

The Florida Senate recently honored the service of Central Florida State Senator Vic Torres.

The Kissimmee Democrat also served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2012-2016, before he was elected to the Senate from 2016-2024. As the Florida Senate honored one of their own, there was no divisive politics between Republicans and Democrats that is typical in the legislature.

“Serving my constituents has always been one of my greatest endeavors,” Senator Torres said. “Having my family, friends and staff with me last week at my farewell event in Tallahassee was bittersweet but very fulfilling.”

Senator Torres was a Central Florida bus driver and active with local unions. He was also recognized for his work to help Veterans.

His wife, Carmen Torres, is now running for that Senate seat as a Democratic candidate against Osceola Representative Kristen Aston Arrington, who is also a Democrat, and two other Republicans.
