The Florida Highway Patrol arrested a 23-year-old Central Florida man who was speeding on I-4 and then attempted fleeing the traffic stop.
FHP arrested Alex Mathew Valdes after he attempted to flee a traffic stop when he was driving behind a trooper going 85 mph. According to law enforcement, instead of pulling over, the Plant City man sped off into traffic, even trying to use the shoulder to get around cars.
Eventually, an FHP trooper had to use their law enforcement vehicle to stop the suspect’s car. At that point, Valdes reportedly complied with demands and was arrested for reckless driving and fleeing the traffic stop.
According to law enforcement, an unloaded Glock pistol was also found in the car and turned over to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Valdes was taken to the Polk County Jail.
