Mechanical One and Valencia College recently announced their partnership to offer training in electrical, HVAC and plumbing trades in Orlando and throughout Central Florida.
This program will put thousands of new employees into this demanding market segment. This year alone, Associated Builders & Contractors estimates the state of Florida will need 500,000 new trade workers to accommodate the demand.
Orlando City Commissioner Regina Hill joined Valencia College and Mechanical One in the ribbon-cutting and launch of three new skilled job training programs that will provide family-sustainable jobs to Central Florida skilled workers.
As part of the agreement, Mechanical One will provide technical expertise and financial support, as well as employment opportunities for graduates. Additionally, Mechanical One will help Valencia students explore apprenticeship programs in electrical, HVAC, and plumbing with new home builders in Central Florida.
“We are excited to partner with Mechanical One to address a shortage of skilled workers. We are committed to assisting our graduates in securing employment with Mechanical One in their chosen field,” said Joe Battista, Valencia College Vice President for Workforce, Career, and Professional Education.
“There is a high demand from the construction & service industries to find team members that want to work in skilled trades, and we felt that our support for this education is essential,” said Jason James, founder/owner of Mechanical One. “With this program, students can complete the program in 10 to 15 weeks, earning multiple national industry credentials and valuable hands-on experience in the electrical, HVAC and plumbing trades.”
“I could not be more excited to partner with Valencia,” added James. “It is full circle for me. I attended Valencia myself and went on to UCF after graduation.”
Valencia College’s Accelerated Skills Training programs are designed to give Central Floridians access to in-demand job skills in a matter of weeks. Focusing on economic mobility, these short-term intensive programs give students the opportunity to earn nationally recognized industry credentials and earn a family-sustainable wage.
Mechanical One opened its doors in July 2021 and since then has expanded throughout Central Florida offering electrical, gas, HVAC, and plumbing services to new home builders and homeowners.
