After a lengthy investigation by the LAPD, reports are that the investigation is complete and prosecutors in L.A. are close to presenting their case to a grand jury, with the view to seeking an indictment.

Murray, a cardiologist, was reported to be with the pop star when Jackson went into cardiac arrest and died on June 25th 2009.

The powerful anesthetic, propofol was found in Jackson’s system following his death. Murray has admitted that he had administered the drug previously to the singer, and on the day that he died, but only in a very small quantity, that is, 25 milligrams.

It has been widely reported that Jackson used propofol on a regular basis to assist him with sleep.  Administered through an IV, the drug would be turned on when the singer went to bed and turned off when he wanted to get up.  Murray has said that he was trying to wean Jackson off propofol.

Meanwhile, TMZ is reporting that Murray, in advance of any indictment, has retained J. Michael Flanagan, a high-powered attorney in L.A.  According to TMZ, Flanagan said that “I’m probably the only attorney in town that has successfully tried a Propofol case involving death.”
