OCPS Employee Busted in Child Pornography Case

A suspect who was employed by Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) since the end of 2022 and worked as an Extended Day Counselor at Orlando’s Baldwin Park Elementary School was arrested in a child pornography case. Last week, Orlando Police Department SWAT, along with Detectives from the OPD Special Victim’s and Violent Crimes Units, served a search warrant on a home belonging to the suspect.

The suspect is identified as Christopher L. Ruiz. Ruiz was located inside the home and interviewed by local detectives. According to law enforcement, during the interview, Ruiz admitted to sending and possessing multiple child pornography images and videos.

Ruiz was arrested and charged with 10 counts of Possession of Material Depicting the Sexual Performance by a Child > 10 images; 3 counts of Transmission of Child Pornography and 1 count of Unlawful Use of a Two Way Device.

Due to his employment at Baldwin Park Elementary, follow-up interviews will be conducted with children in his care. Anyone believing they were victimized by Ruiz is asked to contact the Orlando Police Department’s Special Victim’s Unit.
