Lawmakers Hold Virtual Workshop on Resources Available to Homeowners in Need of Assistance

Florida State Representatives Dianne Hart, Susan Valdés, Anika Omphroy, and Marie Woodson

Today, Saturday, April 30th, from 3pm to 4pm, Democratic State Representatives Dianne Hart, Susan Valdés, Anika Omphroy, and Marie Woodson will be holding a virtual workshop called “Show Me the Money Part 3 – Housing in Crisis” to provide information about state resources for insurance assistance, mortgages, and taxes.

“I am excited to once again host this important event,” said Representative Hart. “There are so many people around the state who are struggling to pay their mortgage, taxes, and insurance and it is important that we as lawmakers make them aware of the resources available to them. It is my hope that people will engage with these programs so that we can begin to address this housing crisis.

This is a virtual event. Interested participants must register using this link.

“The skyrocketing cost of housing is a major crisis facing Florida families,” said Representative Valdés. “Ever-increasing rents and a lack of affordable housing are some of the most serious issues affecting our state. I am proud to join my colleagues who have worked so hard on this issue to help ensure that our constituents are aware of the resources available to them as they struggle to keep up with housing costs.”

“Our state offers different programs to assist homeowners and renters but we also need new attainable housing units built in the most densely populated areas where prices are hindering Floridians,” added Representative Omphroy. “This movement would accelerate Florida’s economy and provide a stable foundation for future generations of Floridians.”

After registering, a confirmation email will be sent to the registered email address that contains information about joining the webinar.

“I am proud to join my colleagues in hosting this event,” said Representative Woodson. “As members of the legislature we must take a serious look at the plight of homeowners as they struggle to make mortgage payments. There are many people struggling to make ends meet and we are doing our part to help ease that burden.”
