Clean Air Technology Installed at Local High School for Safe In-person Learning

UV Angel, a pathogen control technology company that harnesses the power of Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) to make environments measurably safer, announced the completion of its first installation for the ALS School system at Chancery High School in Orlando. A total of 59 UV Angel Clean Air™ units were installed into ceiling light fixtures throughout high-traffic areas to help prevent the spread of pathogens in entryways, classrooms, offices, and conference rooms to facilitate safe in-person learning.

The installation was completed over the course of four days by GDW Fulfillment, a leading distributor of UV Angel products, educating Chancery High School employees throughout the process on the benefits of UV Angel units as an added safety measure.

In schools, people — students, faculty, and staff — are the greatest source of pathogens. UV Angel technology disrupts person-to-person pathogen spread by continuously cleaning and neutralizing air in indoor spaces while people are present. Another benefit demonstrated by neutralizing viruses, bacteria and funguses that are stirred up in the air, is the UV Angel technology also reduces bacterial contamination on surfaces without adding any chemicals or byproducts to the environment. Schools of all grade levels can benefit from continuous room-based clean air technology to reduce risk and allow students and teachers to safely return to classrooms.

“Learning outcomes and student achievement have been dramatically impacted by COVID-19. Given the importance of the in-person environment, we had been proactively looking for a way to safely bring our students and staff back to school,” said principal Isabel Villanueva of Chancery High School. “This installation has been instrumental in providing a setting that enables learning and helps protect both our students and teachers from transmissible viruses like COVID 19.”

UV Angel Clean Air upper-room UVGI technology seamlessly integrates a patented infection control platform into ceiling space, automatically and continuously cleaning room air by killing pathogens. Working completely independent of HVAC systems, the active UVGI treatment technology quietly draws room air into a sealed UV-C chamber. As the air is circulated through the infection control chamber, UV-C light kills up to 99.9% of bacteria, funguses, and viruses. The clean and treated air is then returned to the room, creating a safer and healthier environment without requiring staff interactions or interruptions. Units are also available with energy-efficient LED downlight to enhance room lighting or replace existing light fixtures.

“Similar to the importance we place at UV Angel on protecting our healthcare workers and vulnerable patients in hospitals, we believe it is critical to add another layer of protection for our schools,” said Tom Byrne, CEO of UV Angel. “It has become more important than ever to pay attention to and address the safety of the air we breathe, especially in spaces that are critical to our communities. The installation at Chancery High School shows that our technology is at-the-ready to facilitate not only a safe return to school, but as a proactive on-going safety measure for our teachers, students, staff, and families. We’re proud to be a trusted resource, enabling students to focus on what matters most as they pursue their education goals.”

“We are committed to working with our partners on our mission to make building environments safer, cleaner, and greener,” said Annette Kavanaugh, President of GDW Fulfillment. “We are honored to do this for Chancery High School.”
