NEW YORK TIMES: Police searching for a man suspected of gunning down four uniformed officers did not find him after surrounding and searching a home in Seattle, according to news reports.
Ed Troyer, a spokesman for the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, told The Tacoma News Tribune that the suspect, Maurice Clemmons, was not in the house and could be “on the run.” A few hours earlier, as police SWAT teams swarmed the neighborhood, the police said they believed Mr. Clemmons was in the home in Seattle’s Leschi neighborhood, wounded or even dead.
But as the sun started to rise, that appeared not to be the case. News reports said that the police had issued arrest warrants for Mr. Clemmons and considered him to be armed and dangerous.
