Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings and Orange Osceola County Medical Examiner Dr. Jan Garavaglia are sounding the alarm on the increasing number of deaths as a result of illegal drug use.
Heroin overdose cases grew by 58 percent from 57 in 2013 to 90 in 2014, while the number of resulting deaths increased by 38 percent.
Accidental drug deaths are also on the rise; 166 people died in 2013 – 91 from illegal drugs and 75 from prescription drugs.
