Charlie Crist Is Gonna Need More Than A Fan

unnamed

Florida Democrats are ecstatic.

Over an electric fan.

Suddenly, the only thing Charlie Crist needed to return to Tallahassee was an electric fan.

Imagine that.

We, here, at the West Orlando News thought that Charlie Crist required a strong black voter turnout to be a governor again.

Like a more than 90% turnout.

Our bad, forgive us.

You see, its after-hours over there on the Black Democrat plantation and there is very little work this year. They’ve gone home for the season.

Having been warned that saying anything negative about the really shitty way that the Florida Democratic Party and Charlie Crist campaign have treated African-American political scientists, journalists, designers, TV and radio producers, opinion pollsters, advisers and social media marketing professionals, would have terrible consequences and result in even worse-er [sic] treatment, Florida’s Black Democrats have been effectively silenced.

Except for a few of the ‘crazies’ like us, or maybe the up-and-coming Leslie Wimes and her Democratic African-American Women’s Caucus (DAAWC), calling out Florida Democrats and their ‘we-don’t-need-you-we’ve-got-the-Latinos mindset,’ is a dangerous and risky business.

After all, reminding Florida’s black voters that they currently have the votes, statewide, to effectively change state politics is a big no-no in the Sunshine State. They’ve got the numbers.

And Florida Legislative Black Caucus will have none of it. They’ve got a good thing going already.

But it still doesn’t explain the silence of a Buddy Dyer and other so-called powerful democrats around the state. Debbie Wasserman Schultz you say. Really? She doesn’t count. Where is the ever-disingenuous Alan Grayson on this one? Bruce Antone anyone? Their silence speaks volumes about how horribly wrong the decision selecting Charlie Crist was.

But who needs the black vote or Alan Grayson? To paraphrase James Brown, “Charlie’s got a brand new fan.”

And we all know how well a fan works in Florida.
