Orlando police have identified the armed carjacking suspect who was shot and killed by officers early on Wednesday morning.
The deceased is Jermassioun Viondrey Rodgers, 20 years.
Rodgers and two other armed suspects are believed to have carjacked a food delivery man in the 4500 block of College Drive around 2:30 a.m., on Wednesday morning. The delivery man told investigators that all three men carried firearms, two had handguns and one a rifle.
The suspects who had just carjacked the victim’s Monte Carlo, rammed it into police cruisers that arrived in the area near the 4400 block of Malibu Street. Rodgers and the other two suspects then bailed from the Monte Carlo.
Two police officers discharged their service weapons hitting Rodgers, who died at the scene.
The officers were not injured.
An extensive search of the area turned out to be negative and the other men have not been apprehended.
The officers involved in the shooting are: Officers Aaron Goss, 34, and Anthony Mongelluzo, 35. As is standard procedure, both have been place on administrative leave.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigation the shooting. The investigation into the armed carjacking is ongoing.
