The family of a 29-year-old woman, abducted by her ex-boyfriend on Wednesday, took matters into their own hands to find her, rather than rely on the local police.
Bethany Arceneaux, was believed to have been kidnapped by her estranged boyfriend, Scott Thomas, also 29, taken to an abandoned home in Duson, Louisiana, and was allegedly tortured by him.
Arceneaux’s family, mounted a search for her, moved in and shot Thomas dead after a confrontation ensued and to prevent her from being killed, according to news reports.
About a dozen family members took part in the search and rescue of Arceneaux, who is said to be recovering well.
Meanwhile, police continue to investigate the details of Thomas’ shooting.
