A 76-year-old man was arrested Sunday, accused of attempted murder, Orange County deputies said.
Investigators say, Kenneth Alan Reed, 76, opened fire on Ann Waters, around 3:30 p.m., at a home in the 2000 block of Scranton Avenue, that the two shared.
Waters who was shot in the head and hand, was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment.
According to the arrest report, Waters, who describes herself as Reed’s “caregiver” told investigators that he had requested a ride to the store and got upset when she responded that she would do so, “in a few minutes.”
She told investigators that Reed then went for a rifle and shot at her two or three times as she lay in bed.
Investigators who arrived on scene found Reed sitting in a vehicle outside the home. Deputies found a long rifle in the car, after the suspect was persuaded to get out.
Waters told investigators that she doesn’t wish to prosecute. According to the arrest report, she also told investigators, “Reed needs medical attention for dementia.”
Reed was taken into custody and booked into the Orange County Jail without bond.
