The city of Orlando is facing a projected budget deficit of $12 million for next year’s budget, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

That’s because, while revenues are expected to grow by $3.1 million over the current year to $357.4 million, expenses are projected to increase more – that is, by $15 million to $369.4 million.

“Our costs continue to rise,” Chief Financial Officer Rebecca Sutton told city commissioners Monday, the paper also reported. “Each year, what we end up with gets smaller and smaller.”

It is not clear yet how the city intends to meet the budget shortfall which is expected to be discussed at an upcoming city commissioners meeting, later this month.
