In twenty years, about 46 million legal immigrants will be in the United States, the federal debt will increase and Americans’ average wage will shrink, if the Senate’s pending immigration bill is signed into law, the Congressional Budget Office said Tuesday, according to Alabama Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions’ reading of two new reports.
“This bill guarantees three things: amnesty, increased welfare costs and lower wages for the U.S. workforce,” said Sessions, who leads the opposition to the Senate bill, the dailycaller.com reported. “It would be the biggest setback for poor and middle-class Americans of any legislation Congress has considered in decades.”
But Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio said, the CBO reports are good news for Americans, as “reforming our immigration system is a net benefit for our economy, American workers and taxpayers.”
