Sheriff’s Office Hosts Community Crime Summit

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office will host a “Community Crime Summit” on Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Orange County Convention Center.

The Sheriff’s Community Crime Summit will focus on a number of topics, including narcotics, pill mills, cyber crime, human trafficking, gangs, and several other important topics. The invited speakers for the occasion include Dr. Lonise Bias and Phil Chalmers. Dr. Bias is a gifted orator and the mother of deceased University of Maryland basketball star Len Bias who died from a cocaine overdose in 1986. Dr Bias continues to provide prescriptive solutions to solve the social ills of our day. Phil Chalmers is one of America’s leading authorities on juvenile crime.

The mission of the summit is to educate the community on the growing issues within our county and how we can continue to build safe communities. This is a continuing effort on the part of Sheriff Jerry Demings to keep the dialogue open between citizens and law enforcement.
