54-Time Convicted Felon Arrested Again in Central Florida

A 54-time convicted felon was arrested again in Central Florida.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office recently arrested a 54-time convicted felon after local detectives discovered he had a firearm.

Deputies recently responded to a residence in the 12900 block of Gordon Road in Riverview near Tampa in reference to a reported barricaded subject, identified as 54-year-old Kenneth Allan Smith.

During the investigation, deputies learned that Smith called a witness and made several threats.

Deputies also discovered that Smith was a 54-time convicted felon, with multiple prior battery convictions as well as a previous sentence for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Detectives learned that Kenneth Smith had firearms inside his bedroom. A residential search warrant was obtained and served, which revealed that Smith had a firearm.

The HCSO Gang Unit observed Smith leaving the residence at which time he was taken into custody without incident. Smith was facing one count of Resisting Without Violence and one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

“Individuals with extensive violent criminal histories who continue to disregard the law will be held accountable,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Our deputies and detectives acted quickly to ensure this individual no longer had access to a firearm, prioritizing the safety of our community.”

This remains an active investigation, according to local law enforcement.
