Deputies: 14 Arrested in $2 Million Credit Card Theft

After an 18-month long investigation, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office have arrested 14 suspects, accused of stealing 30,000 credit card numbers and fraudulently charging over $2 million in goods and services.

Dubbed “Operation V.I.N. DIESEL”, Orange County Sheriff Jerry and members of the Organized Crime Unit will provide details at a press conference on Monday on how the suspects used skimming devices, false documents and stole cars, among other crimes, to defraud persons and businesses in Central Florida.

Deputies said, charges on the 14 suspects range from credit card fraud to racketeering.

Orange County deputies and members of the Organized Crime Unit, teamed up with the Secret Service, State Department of Environmental Protection and other OSCO units to apprehend the suspects.

Members of the Organized Crime Unit said the arrests represented hundreds of man hours of investigative and surveillance activity.
