A Local Folkus, LLC continues its commitment to the local food movement by celebrating their fourth annual Winter Park Harvest Festival this fall on Saturday, November 23rd from 10am to 4pm. Throughout the day, a local producer-only market in Central Park’s West Meadow will offer festivalgoers the chance to gobble up all of the ingredients to create a completely local Thanksgiving meal. With over 50 local farmers, food artisans and gardeners, it’s a great opportunity to get some holiday gift shopping done too!
Kids activities by Florida Hospital’s Mission Fit program, cooking demonstrations, and do-it-yourself gardening sessions will offer everyone a chance to learn more about building a healthy and vibrant local food system. A mobile community garden, organized by Our Whole Community, will display over fifty grow boxes, grown by local elementary schools.
In addition to the festivities, there will be a beer garden serving Florida craft brews and a full lineup of local musicians throughout the entire day, as follows:
- 10am Barnstorm
- 11am Just Twistin’ Hay
- Noon Evan Taylor Jones
- 1pm Carolyn Nicely
- 2pm Heather Lee and Jordan Wynn
- 3pm Kattya Graham
For those hoping to bring home more than their Thanksgiving meal provisions, they can learn all about gardening, homesteading and cooking at one of Simple Living Institute’s demonstrations below. Or, they may visit the cooking demo tent to take home some new recipes for your holiday meals.
