In April, a strike team of law enforcement agencies in Central Florida made surprise face-to-face contact with hundreds of offenders, including gang members and violent felons on house arrest.

The operation which covered Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Volusia County, led to the arrest of 49 offenders for non-compliance and the seizure of six weapons, along with drug/paraphernalia.

In April, strike team officers made surprise compliance/curfew checks with over 530 offenders to ensure their adherence to court-ordered house arrest requirements. Officers visited the homes of targeted felony offenders and conducted status checks and walk-throughs of their residences. The vast majority of offenders were in compliance with their probation and curfew mandates.

In Orange County, 160 offenders were contacted and 12 arrests were made.  The 14 law enforcement teams who participated also seized 28 grams of marijuana, 4.2 grams of methamphetamine, and 24 grams of Adderall.

The six-county operation placed emphasis compliance checks of offenders on Community Control Supervision and who have a previous history of: Robbery, Homicide, Sexual Battery, Aggravated Assault/Battery, Armed Drug Trafficking, and/or Documented Gang Members or Associates.

The strike team, made up by DOC probation officers, deputies, and local police officers, are all part of the Community Justice Coalition (CJC), which began in 2007 and has taken part in 15 sweeps, to date.
