3-Year-Old Twins Die in Mobile Home Fire in New Port Richey

A set of 3-year-old twins – a boy and girl – perished in a fire that broke out in a trailer in New Port Richey on Monday, Pasco Sheriff’s deputies said.

The pair, Micah and Miah Shaver, died in the trailer at 10637 Wabayo Street, at Moon Lake Estates.  Firefighters who attempted to reach the twins trapped inside, were pushed back by the flames.

The Pasco Sheriff’s Office received a call just before 9:00 a.m., that the trailer was engulfed in flames and there may be children trapped inside.  The fire started in one of the bedrooms and quickly engulfed the entire trailer, deputies say.

A search of the home by Pasco Fire Rescue confirmed that Micah and Miah had perished in the blaze.

Shannon Garza, 30, the mother of the twins, suffered burns to her arms and was taken to Bayonet Point Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Fire Rescue officials have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
