3 Members of Apopka Family Killed in Florida Turnpike Crash

635495768853352660-deadly-fatal-crash-generic-graphicTroopers continue to investigate a single-vehicle crash on the Florida Turnpike that left three members of an Apopka family dead on Saturday.

The crash happened around 4:45 p.m. on State Road 91 near mile marker 136 in Martin County.

The deceased are three passengers in the Ford Expedition which overturned after a rear tire separated. They are: Uriel Miranda, 38, of Apopka, and two children, Yaretsi Miranda, 2, and Yordi Miranda, 8.

Troopers say, Oduver Miranda, 25, of Apopka, who was heading northbound, lost control of the vehicle when it sustained a left rear tire tread separation. The SUV left the roadway on the east shoulder and overturned.

Uriel Miranda was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead on the spot. Yaretsi and Yordi were pronounced dead at St. Mary Medical Center.

Several other family members were hospitalized, in stable condition. They are Bryan Miranda, 5, Angel Miranda, 9, Chris Miranda, 2, Scarlette Miranda, 10, Rolanda Miranda, 23, and Rudy Miranda 28. Imelda Miranda, 34, is in critical but stable condition. All are being treated at St. Mary Medical Center.

Oduver Mirander, the driver, sustained minor injuries. He, along with Edwin Miranda, was treated and discharged from Lawnwood Medical Center.

Some passengers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, several were not, while in other cases, it’s unknown.

The crash remains under investigation.
